The Renault FT-17 was the first modern tank of the world. That's a french vehicule, but every nations in War thunder used it. Renault FT-17 was develloped in 1915, 1916 and 1917 and finally produced from early 1917 to December 1918 in France (Early 1918 to Early 1920s in America).
Ft-17 is the first tank with a turret. It was armed by a SA 18 37mm canon or a Hotchkiss M1914 8mm gun. The both version were utilised in World War I and II by a ot of countries.
In 1917-18, only France and America used FT17s: This tank was finally very good, probably the best of the fitrst war. The britishs used 24 of them for tests. During the interwar, France exported a lot of FT-17s in many countries: Italy (6 tanks, used for base to the first italian tank, the Fiat 3000), Japan (Used in Mandchuria in 1931 and 1937), China (Used against Japan), Poland (In service in 1939), Yugoslavia (In service in 1939), Finland (In service in 1939), Romania (Used as training tank in 1939), Belgium (in service in 1939), Estonia, Lituania, Switerland, Spain (In services in the boths belligerants in 1936), Greece, Turkey, Brazil...
FT-17 still in service in french reserve at the start of WWII, and they was used ofr minor tasks: Airfield protection, ect... They was able to destroy Panzer I, Panzer II, Panzer 35(t) and Panzer 38(t) in german side, T-26, BT-7 in soviet side. In June 1940, the German army captured 1704 FT-17 and puted them in service as training tank.
During russian civil war, allies FT-17 get captured by soviet army, and was finally copied: The first soviet tank was just a FT-17. The second, T-18, was clearly inspired from.
